You’d spent years dreaming about owning Blackthorn Manor. A few weeks after moving in, you were already beginning to regret it.

There are footsteps in empty rooms. Strange smells appear and disappear without explanation. Sometimes you can hear a tune playing somewhere in the house, even though there is nobody there.

Then you find the chest.

Hidden behind an old bookcase, it is packed with photographs, newspaper cuttings, handwritten notes, maps and old records. Among them are fifteen folders left behind by the previous owner.

They had been investigating the house.

More importantly, they thought they knew who might be haunting it.

Their research has narrowed the search down to 60 people connected to Blackthorn Manor, but they disappeared before they could finish the investigation. Now you have everything they left behind.

Each of the fifteen folders contains a new line of enquiry. You’ll need to work out when the haunting began, identify objects and photographs, follow old records, investigate former residents and gradually remove people from the suspect list.

Some information will help immediately. Some of it will only make sense later. You’ll need to keep track of what you discover and decide who can safely be crossed out.

By the time you reach the final folder, only one question should remain.
